During the Open House 1987 a Handley Page Victor from the RAF visited RMAB and stranded here because of an engine problem. A week later a British flatbed arrived and a new engine was installed. When it finally left the base in a westerly direction people watched in awe as this bizarre looking aircraft climbed at an enormous angle and went into a barrel-roll to say good-bye to our base. Again - a real "Rhein-Main Historic Moment" !

Rhein-Main even saw US Navy planes from time to time, beside our "regulars".

Here's another C-141 with a crew member cheering out of the cockpit after another "mission accomplished".

The static display aircraft (F-5 "Tiger" in front) for the Open House 1987, which was visited by an estimated 600,000 people.

Top left shows patrolman with Ford "LTD" cruiser on an off-base dispatch. Top right shows left to right, A1C Mitchell, Cowboy Yule Brenner from Westworld, & PM "Frenchy" Latreche beside an LED"K-Car" in the background.

Center left: Sgt Ramos with K-9 partner Robbie outside the MAC Terminal Bldg. 400. Center right: Sgt "Stretch" Ostrander as the NCOIC of that day's Main Gate crew circa1986.

Bottom left: Policeman Mario Gagliardi securing the Main Gate during a "Code 5" alarm activation with outbound traffic stopped and Kenny - who's last name I forgot - of SPOL-A getting out of his old Chrysler "Grand Fury" cruiser.

Top left and far right: SSgt Curtis G. Redus from Little Rock. Curtis passed away in Atlanta in February 2000. His partner with the black shirt "Val", who's last name I forgot, got killed in a joint Air Force/Army exercise in the States. They were both law enforcement specialists and top-notch performers!

Bottom left: A1C Colleen Kelly of Chicago at the Main Gate. I forgot the name of the other female SP.

Bottom right: Shift Leader Hofrichter and Policeman Huppert at the Pass-Stelle.

Top left: The "Rock" ! Top right: a popular German TV detective with (real) Officer Klaus Preuss of Langen PD, who often visited our squadron during boring night shifts.

Bottom left: A Swedish "Police Exchange Student" and bottom far right (white hat, golden tie-clip): Lieutenant Willi Weigand, one of the well respected and much liked liaison officers from the neighboring 19th Precinct at the airport.
Top left and right: On a 4th of July in the early Ninties, one of our troops at the main gate suspected an Army dependent from Bad Kreuznach of DUI. The policeman ordered the driver to stop his vehicle. The suspect then attempted to run over our policeman and sped away. The vehicle was later found in Dexheim and one of our investigators responded to "do the crime scene" Note the MP's standing at attention in front our SPOI guy - funny!

Middle left and right: A German C-160 Transall crew ready to depart Rhein-Main to Sarajevo with a delegation of DV's.

And our top-notch Forward Air Controllers…best in the West!

Most of this was in black & white at the bottom of one of "JW"s photos. I changed the badge to the color version, added our squadron & usage titles, colored the canvas blue, made a few changes to the text, & added the form # at the bottom. You should print this card to carry with your others for post briefings & real world situations.
