I entered the Air Force in April 1983 and my first
assignment was Rhein-Main. We arrived there in August 1983. We
were there until October 1986. I worked "C" Flight Law
Enforcement for two years, and my last year I was in SPA, Reports
& Analysis. Rhein-Main was BY FAR my best/favorite assignment
in 23½ years of service. Even though it was quite a while
ago, my best memories are still of that base and Germany. The
camaraderie was second to none. The flight parties and flight
road-trips were unbelievable. There were so many great times I
could not begin to mention them. Of course, I was also there during
the not-so-great times like the Headquarters car-bombing in 1985
(my wife's birthday), the airport bombing, the TWA hijacking and
the Beirut bombing to name a few.
After leaving Rhein-Main, we went to Blytheville (Eaker), Arkansas.
Yes it sucked. Spent six years at that dump (nuke bomber/tanker
base) until it closed in November 1992. Did the LE thing, NCIOC/Reports
& Analysis and was an investigator. Then went to Seymour Johnson
in North Carolina and was NCOIC of Investigations for two years
from November 1992 until December 1994. Left there for a wonderful
(insert sarcasm here) non-volunteer trip to Osan until December
1995. Fortunately, went right back to Seymour Johnson and worked
as LE Flight Chief, NCOIC/Training and Resource Advisor until
August 1999.
Then we went to Malmstrom AFB, Montana. Yes I volunteered for
it and volunteered to run a missile flight and did so in the 564th
Missile Squadron. A lot of people thought that was a serious PRP
issue. Loved Montana but was only there for two years and volunteered
to go to F.E. Warren in Cheyenne, Wyoming to run a newly formed
training center for 20th Air Force. I was the Superintendent from
August 2001 until my retirement in August 2006 as a SMSgt.
I am still married to Shari (over 25 years!) and we have a 21
year-old married daughter, 15 year old son, and two grand-sons.
I work for the Wyoming Attorney General's Office, Division of
Criminal Investigation. I work in the NCIC Control Terminal for
the state. We ensure connectivity to all LE agencies in the state
and train/certify dispatchers and audit all agencies in the state
who access NCIC to ensure compliance. Two of my recent audits
were Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.
Yeah, I know... Its rough but someone has to do it!
This web site is so awesome! I still keep up with Clark Eslick
(he lives 40 miles from me), SMSgt (Ret) Bob Combs, and Tony "DJ"
DiGiacomo. I would love to hear from people I was stationed with
there. Drop me an e-mail at maverick-21
"at" hotmail.com & visit my MySpace
page.
