SSgt Duane Holman. (435th SPS from
83-88.) From 83-86 I was assigned to SPOS-B. From 86-88 I was NCOIC
of the Vehicle section. I totally enjoyed my stay at the Rhein-Main.
If I ever have a chance to come back and visit what's left, I will
seriously enjoy it.
I started my career in 81 while stationed at F.E.Warren
AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I performed Security on the Missile
Sites until Sept of 83 when I was transferred to the Rhein. I
was in the barracks for about a month or so until I got off base
housing in Egelsbach. My wife Sally and our 3 kids came out in
December. We had another child born in Weisbaden while in Germany.
In the spring of 88, we were transferred back stateside, stationed
at Carswell AFB in Ft Worth, Texas. I did another 1½ years
in Security before being medically cross-trained to Supply. I
exited the Air Force in June of 1992. We moved back to Denver,Colorado.
I worked in a garage for 1½yrs then went into the Salvage
industry for the next 8 yrs. In 1998, my wife and I decided to
open our own business, Diamond Kut Enterprises, and began commercial
cleaning for businesses. While running our new business I did
a lot of side jobs as a mechanic.
Sally and I Divorced in 94. I married again in
96 to my current wife, Karla. She had 5 kids. Between us we had
a total of 9 children. We moved to Iowa in 2000. We were blessed
with another daughter born in 06. So now we have a total of 10
kids (5 boys and 5 girls). My oldest son Steven is 30 and serving
in the Iowa National Guard unit based out of Des Moines, Iowa.
Michael is 28 and a manager for a grocery store in Denver, Colorado.
Eddie is 25 and works for his mother in Nebraska as a carpet installer,
Clifford is 24 and attending college in Nebraska. Those are my
boys. My wife's kids include Bryant who is 22 and a carpenter,
Samantha is 20 and working for Taco Johns, Krystil is 18 and graduating
high school this year while also a manager at McDonalds, Destini
is 16 and working at the Preztal Maker in Ames after school, and
finally Autumn, who is a Duane & Karla production, is our
youngest at 3. She is our pride and joy who can do no wrong.
I'm now managing a local Napa Auto Parts in Boone,
Iowa. I've been here for 9 years and really love it.
