I left Rhein Main in Nov 87. I got married a month before I got out and still am (to the same person, Gillian). Being a cop was my lifelong dream and I became a city Police Officer for Allentown, PA in Aug 89. A new contract allowed a lot of us to retire early so I took up the offer and retired in 06. The camaraderie was very similar to that in the AF. I now have my own construction business remodeling homes. I have 2 children, a 15 yr old girl and a 10 yr old boy. We still live in PA.

I often look back, as I am sure most of you do, with fondness of my AF days. A few times I've run into former Rhein-Main and Dyess buddies. My memories and stupidity flood back. I am sure everyone who was stationed at RM had a good assignment. The European experience was priceless. I never had enough money to go home on leave because of that damn place... Sachsenhausen. My first experience was at the Irish pub were of an old veteran of RM who tried to show me the proper technique to drink a flaming shot. I was eager and young to learn of his mastery. He bull shitted so long the rim got so hot it burned his lips. His lips were swollen the next day. So I don't bullshit when I drink. I am pretty sure that was the lesson he wanted to teach me.
